Core Values
These values are drawn from both Islamic tradition and contemporary educational best practices, promoting a holistic development of the adult learner.
How We Teach Our Values
- Values are not taught in isolation but are embedded throughout the curriculum, learning environment, and interpersonal relationships at the College.
- Each value is introduced with reference to Qur'anic verses, prophetic teachings, and contemporary real-world applications to deepen understanding and relevance.
- Learners are encouraged to reflect critically and spiritually on how each value manifests in their personal, professional, and communal lives.
- Case studies, group discussions, journaling, and service-based learning are used to explore and apply values in practical settings.
- The teaching of values follows a cyclical and layered model, ensuring that learners revisit and deepen their understanding as they progress.
Tarbiyah (Nurturing education)
Developing the whole person — intellectually, spiritually, and ethically.
Iḥsān (Excellence)
Encouraging learners to strive for excellence in character and action.
Khidmah (Service)
Promoting selfless service to others as a form of worship.
God-Centeredness (Rabbāniyyah)
Anchoring all aspects of life- personal, social, and intellectual- in the awareness of Allah’s presence, sovereignty, and guidance. This ensures that our actions are ultimately in service to Him, not to ego, trends, or societal pressures.
Spiritual Purification (Tazkiyyah)
A lifelong process of cleansing the heart from spiritual diseases (such as arrogance, envy, and hypocrisy) and nurturing virtues like sincerity, patience, and humility. Tazkiyyah is the foundation of individual reform and social harmony.
Justice (‘Adl)
Upholding fairness and equity in all relationships and systems, guided by divine law. Justice is a central value in Islam and a core purpose for the sending of prophets.
Accountability (Mas'ūliyyah)
Recognising that every individual is answerable before Allah for their actions, words, and intentions. This nurtures personal responsibility and a commitment to moral excellence.
